The area you will be staying is known as Huelo,
located on Maui's rugged North Shore.

Before you get on your flight to Hawaii, please be sure to contact us with an approximate arrival time. If you're coming in late we like to be able to leave our phone lines open in case you get lost, and to put lights on for you.

Directions to Huelo Pt Lookout Please note: CHECK IN TIME IS 3PM. CHECK OUT IS 11 AM.

OUR GUESTS GENERALLY DO "SELF CHECK INS", but should you see one of us we'll be happy to show you in. Otherwise just take off your shoes, go in, make yourselves at home, read "the green book" (which may be white!), and give us a call 573-0914 just to let us know you've arrived safely - and of course to ask any questions etc.

1. From Kahului airport, take signs directing you towards Paia or Hana. That will put you on the Hana Highway. Kahului is the place to do your grocery shopping if you're big meat eaters, so you might want to call in at the local Safeway, Costco or K Mart by the airport before heading out to us. If you're planning on lots of barbecues you'll also want to pick up some charcoal. We don't provide breakfast, though you'll find some basics in the fridge like coffee, creamer, sugar, spices etc. Now, back on the Hana Highway ...

2. Go thru Paia - or turn right at the lights in Paia if you want to shop at Mana Foods, open until 8pm ... wonderful organic grocery store ... keep driving until the milemarkers "turn over" at 16 and start again at "0". Keep going. We're between milemarker "3" and "4" after the milemarkers have turned over ... about 20 - 25 mins drive from Paia).

3. About half way between milemarker "3" and "4", look for a double row of mailboxes on your left. You'll also see a street light, a bus shelter and a phone box. Look for all these to see you're on the right road. (There is a small road a 20-30 yards before ours with some mail boxes. Don't take this one...). Our road is known locally as Door of Faith (Church) Road and has a wide opening- but don't expect to see a street sign. It sometimes goes AWOL. Usually there is a Hawaiian Warrior sign at the top saying "Kaulanapu'eo Church 1853" - but don't rely on that either!

4. Set your odometer. Go down Door of Faith Road 1/2 a mile, leaving both churches on your left. Look for the visibility mirror on your right and a fork in the road. Turn LEFT here (after your turn there is a red cottage on your right).

5. Go another 1/3 mile and stop before the road "veers" left again. DRIVE VERY SLOWLY (10mp or less) ON THIS STRETCH PLEASE. SENSITIVE NEIGHBORS & HORSES ON YOUR LEFT (not to mention 2 speed bumps).

6. Look now on your right for a telephone pole with "18" on it. You'll also see a red arrow up in the palm tree saying "Jeff & Sharyn", pointing you to the correct driveway. That's the corner of our driveway. Turn right immediately. You'll see a gate right in front of you with our sign "Huelo Pt Lookout ... Private" ... The gate looks locked, but it isn't. Just unwrap the chain, open the gate, drive thru, and close the gate after you please.

7. If by any chance you get lost, go back to the top of the road and call us from the phone booth - 573 0914. Area code will be 808 if you're using your cell phone - note that your cell phone may not work here. PLEASE don't disturb our neighbors' tranquility for directions.

8.. Go down our driveway until it forks.

9.. If you're staying in Haleakala, that's the first cottage that you come to, right there. Just go straight ahead about 15 feet or so and pull into your concrete driveway on your left.

10.. If you're staying at Star Honeymoon Lookout go straight ahead, past Haleakala Cottage on your left, to your own circular driveway. (If the weather is wet stay parked on the gravel).

11. If you're staying at the Lookout House (Ocean Lookout upstairs, Sunrise Suite downstairs), or Rainbow Honeymoon Lookout, take the left fork and proceed to the gravel parking area by the main house. Lookout House (Ocean Lookout, Sunrise Suite) is on your left and you can park in the car port. Best to reverse in - saves spinning gravel later. If you're in Ocean Lookout, go up the stairs at the back of the car port. If you're in Sunrise Suite go around to the front door and take the downstairs entrance through the double french doors.

12.. If you're staying in Rainbow Honeymoon Lookout, just park and look right - you'll see a French entry door leading into a covered walkway. Just open the door (it won't be locked), turn left, and keep going straight ahead - past the pool, thru the gate, over the little bridge and you'll be at Rainbow Lookout. Please don't lug heavy/ unwieldy luggage up Rainbow's beautiful spiral staircase. Leave your luggage downstairs and use the luggage racks provided.

13.. FINALLY, WHEREVER YOU'RE STAYING: Check that you're in the right place (read the taro leaf sign by each front door). Then take off your shoes, go in and r-e-l-a-x ... Read "the green book" and make yourselves at home. Smoking outside only please. Give us a call if you haven't already, so we know you've arrived safely 573 0914. Or if it's very late, just catch us in the morning.

14.. Enjoy your hot tub - watch the cover if the trade wind is blowing (don't use the cover for a seat - it will break). Most of all ...take a deep breath - you're in Maui ... warmest "aloha" ... sweet dreams... don't hesitate to call us with questions or if there's anything you need.
