Rainbow Honeymoon Lookout

Rainbow Honeymoon Lookout is the perfect place for that special occasion. We are romantics at heart, and we assume other people are too... so we built a spectacularly beautiful 2 story cottage which includes those features we've always loved.

You approach through a jungle of exotically landscaped tropical gardens ablaze with color... delicate bunches of pink Coral Bell gingers, or the long scarlet and yellow “firecrackers” ...  you wander down a path by the pale blue palm-fringed pool to your front door. Open it, only to find that it's almost like being in another garden. The whole of the lower floor is walled in glass, 25-feet high in the dining room, so nature's entire abundance of sparkling ocean, pristine sky and luxuriant plants exploding with color become part of your decor. We can get 100" of rain a year here, so you can almost hear things grow.

The man-made decor echoes that of nature, in rich blues and greens, with occasional splashes of vibrant color. Perhaps you'll walk out to one of your private lanais and take a hot tub under the stars, soothed by the trickle of waterfall gardens. Or we have an art piece “work in progress” which may be ready by the time you arrive... a spectacular nautilus shell outdoor shower. If it isn't finished yet, (this is Maui - work depends on whether surf's up or not)... you can always enjoy a shower or a soak in the glass ceiling'd bathroom indoors.

Reach out your window to pick a papaya or curl up in a comfy wicker chair in our skylit solarium. Rich pastureland is a few feet away, so occasionally a graceful horse or a very large cow may poke its head through the fence to inquire about coffee. Their solemn but comical faces have delighted many a guest. It's almost like living on the cover of a Swiss chocolate box!

We commissioned a local artist to create a magical spiral staircase for us. It takes you upstairs to the bedroom where at night from your king size bed you can stargaze through overhead skylights... city dwellers always marvel at how much brighter the stars are away from city lights. Sit up in bed in the morning to catch a perfect apricot sunrise over the ocean. Or wander out to one of two lanais... one oceanside amongst the treetops, with sweeping views across the rolling green pastures down to the cliffs... to the other poolside, where you can sit and enjoy the soft blue of the pool through the filtering palm fronds.

Rainbow Honeymoon Lookout is a fairytale romantic hideaway. Celebrate a special occasion or just spoil yourself. Either way, you'll know that you've found somewhere unique, a place where the real beauty of Hawaii can still enchant you.

• 1 Bedroom (king bed) upstairs, plus queen sleeper sofa downstairs (Can sleep 2 couples)
• 1½ Bath (double shower with soaking tub).
• All linens provided with extra large bath sheets

• CD/tape player
• Glass and panoramic ocean, mountain, pasture, cliff and garden views all around
• Use of 44' free form jungle pool and additional hot tub under the stars
• Fabulous outdoor "aquarium" shower for two under the stars
